PENTEX PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS

CHRONOL-OPPENHEIMER

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN’S OPPENHEIMER IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

WATCH THIS VIDEO FOR A FULL EXPLANATION OF THE PROJECT

The video above is a much more thorough explanation of this edit than I can manage here, but this is where you can find Pentex Productions' re-edit of Christopher Nolan's masterpiece Oppenheimer into chronological order.

I explain this more in the video, but the purpose of this edit is not to say the film is better in chronological order (it's not!). Rather, I made it as a film-making and storytelling exercise to help me understand why Nolan's story works so much more effectively when told in a non-linear fashion.

I am sharing it with other people who might be interested in it for the same reason.

In case you didn’t watch the video, there are two versions of this fan edit

CHRONOL-OPPENHEIMER

A two hour long edit of Oppenheimer in chronological order, that ends at the same point in time the original film does (with Oppenheimer talking to Einstein by the pond.) It cuts out all of the Oppenheimer interrogation and Strauss hearing scenes.

CHRONOL-OPPENHEIMER (EXTENDED CUT)

A three hour long edit of Oppenheimer that includes every scene from the original film laid out in chronological order. This version is not very good for reasons explained in the video, and I do not recommend watching it.

AUDIO AND SUBTITLES

Although the original file I used for the edit has 5.1 audio, the final export is not suitable for a full surround sound set-up, so it is presented in stereo.

As with any audio, the final mix may vary depending on the playback device. I have found this edit works best with high quality headphones or a soundbar, but your mileage may vary. But is it even a Nolan movie if you don't have trouble hearing the dialogue?

I have been unable to provide subtitles because of the complexity of keeping them synced up while editing the full movie, but if there is enough demand I'll make some.

If you want to volunteer to create some, feel free to reach out!

THE LEGAL BIT

Before I share the links, please responsibly support the fan editing community and the film's original creators, and only view fan edits of movies you already have a legally purchased copy of.

This means you must have a legal home media copy of Oppenheimer (like the Blu-ray or 4K disc) or a fully paid streaming subscription to a service that has Oppenheimer in it's catalogue in your country.

Also because of the R-rating of Oppenheimer, you must also be of legal age to watch Chronol-Oppenheimer under your country's rating system (usually above 17 years old).

This is entirely a non-profit fan creation I did in my spare time as a story-telling exercise to better understand this movie's structure.

Also, please be careful when downloading files from the internet. The links below are the only one I can vouch for, but download at your own risk.

If clicking the link doesn't work, copy and paste it into the search bar.

Remember, Chronol-Oppenheimer is the 2 hour version that ends with Oppenheimer's conversation with Einstein by the pond, cutting out all of the Strauss and Oppenheimer interrogation scenes. The Extended Cut is 3 hours long and is every scene in the original Oppenheimer arranged in chronological order. Watch the video for more details.

NOTE: If demand is high, the edit may be temporarily unavailable. Try again later if this happens.
